The Godly Play

St. George’s Church provides a Sunday School ministry to children birth to 18 years. We provide creche (ages birth to 4 years old), Godly Play Sunday School classes (ages 3 to 14 years old) and Youth Group Bible discussion (ages 11 to 18 years old).
Creche is for the babies and toddlers. These children meet in the hall of our church facilities. Creche is provided and the 10:00 services and at the 5th Sunday combined 11:30 service. Amy Moser is the coordinator for creche and works with a team of dedicated loving parents.
Sunday School is based on the “Godly Play” curriculum by Jerome Barryman. Godly Play is a hands-on preentation of the Sacred Stories from the Bible, Gospel Parables and Liturgical stories. It is a method inspired in the Montessori approach to spiritual development and growth for children and young people. Children listen to stories and then respond to them by making art, working with the story or reading about the story. The classes are conducted in English; however, our children come from many backgrounds. Please consult the schedule to see the theme of the week. Constance (Connie) Marchese and Raffaella (Raffy) Hutchinson coordinate the Sunday School programs. A team of nine dedicated teachers, trained in the Godly Play method, assist in the program.
Our Youth group Sunday School is a guided discussion of the Bible that aims to engage teens and the world around them with Gospel of Jesus Christ. This group is led by Nathan Moser. Having served as minister of youth in the greater Chicago area, Nathan now serves as professor of Bible at United Theological College (SEUT) in El Escorial. Youth group meets every other week. He is assisted by his wife Amy Moser.
Our Creche, Sunday School and Youth Group meet during the 10:00 services and every 5th Sunday when the church time is 11:30. Every month there is a Family Service at 10:00 where the children stay in church to worship with their parents/family. Please consult the schedule for times and classes. Sunday School runs during the academic year. During the summer months, there are 10:00 a.m. Family services.
Children are asked to go to the Hall until they are taken to their Sunday School room. Parents- Feel free to visit after the church service!
