The Anglican Church of St. George is a point of historical and architectural interest in the capital of this great nation, but also an important benchmark, for the various English-speaking communities and persons belonging to non- Roman Catholic Christian traditions settled in Madrid. For example, in 1951 the Finnish community held a memorial by the former President of Finland, Baron von Mannerheim. Currently, the Finnish community, like other Scandinavian communities belonging to Porvoo Agreement, meets annually on Christmas Eve to celebrate his traditional Christmas Mass.

With the development of tourism and the integration of Spain into the European Community, St. George became a first point of contact for a growing number of people eager for a church that allows them to worship the Lord in their native language or tradition that respects and celebrates his. We also consider ourselves fortunate to have a small but important number of Spanish people who come in search of an ecclesiastical expression that is Catholic and reformed and, in turn, embodied in an open community, international and multicultural.

San Jorge is intended as a self-sustaining community, missionary and that contributes to both the needs of its members as to the nation and city that have covered over the 143 years of its existence.

As expressed in his letter, dated June 2007, Professor Gary Smith of the University of Texas Tech, "I find it very interesting the fact that this extraordinary example of the Spanish ability to mix European architectural traditions and Arabs, were intended to become the first Anglican church in Madrid ... In my opinion, this church is worth being preserved for the use and enjoyment of future generations. I take this opportunity to thank the congregation for its efforts to preserve it. "
